Southwestern Christian Earns Top Seed in SAC Tournament

Southwestern Christian wins first SAC championship ever

OKLAHOMA CITY – Southwestern Christian enters the Sooner Athletic Conference men’s soccer tournament as the No. 1 seed when the tournament opens with quarterfinals Friday.

Top seed Southwestern Christian took the SAC regular-season title for the first time. The Eagles (11-1-3) meet Central Christian at 2 p.m. on Cagle Family Field in Bethany, Okla.

The higher seed hosts each match throughout the tournament. The semifinals will be April 6 with the title bout April 9. The conference tournament champion reaches the NAIA Championships, which begin with the NAIA Championship Opening Round on April 22-24 on campus sites throughout the nation.

Southwestern Christian captured its first SAC championship in any sport. Southwestern Christian outscored league foes 30-4 in league play this spring. The Eagles collected five shutouts within conference. Second seed Mid-America Christian owns the 20th spot in the latest NAIA rankings.

John Brown nipped Science & Arts of Oklahoma 1-0 in the SAC Tournament championship Nov. 16, 2019 in Siloam Springs, Ark. Kelvin Omondi scored in the 79th minute to propel the Golden Eagles to their first SAC Tournament title since 2002.
