OKLAHOMA CITY – John Brown garnered the top seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference women’s soccer tournament set to start Thursday with quarterfinal contests at each higher seed’s home field.
The Golden Eagles, ranked 14th in the NAIA, square off with Wayland Baptist at Thursday at Alumni Field in Siloam Springs, Ark. John Brown (9-0) rolled through league play undefeated for the second time in four years.
The tournament semifinals take place April 5 with the championship April 8. The SAC Tournament champion collects a bid into the NAIA Championships, which start with the NAIA Championship Opening Round on April 15-17 at campus sites across the country.
John Brown has put together eight consecutive shutouts. The Golden Eagles allowed merely one goal in 2020-21 in their season opener.
Science & Arts of Oklahoma has taken the past three SAC women’s soccer tournament titles. The Drovers cruised to a 7-2 victory over Wayland Baptist for the league tournament crown Nov. 15, 2019 in Chickasha, Okla. Mackenzie Holub fueled USAO with a hat trick.
