OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference is proud to announce that 47 women’s basketball student-athletes were tabbed as Scholar-Athletes, as presented by Barnes & Noble College on Wednesday.
To be eligible for scholar-athlete consideration, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average while appearing on the eligibility certificate for an NAIA-recognized sport. The student-athletes must have attended the nominating institution for at least two full years or one full year as a collegiate transfer as well as be a junior by academic standing.
The Sooner Athletic Conference co-champions Wayland Baptist and Mid-America Christian tallied the most honorees in the SAC with the Flying Queens racking up nine honorees while the Evangels placed eight on the esteemed list.
Three Flying Queens in Jolie Donaldson, Kaitlyn Edgemon and Jessica Medcalf have maintained a 4.0 GPA in their collegiate careers alongside a pair of Panhandle State players in Samantha Davis and Laura Moya Demures as well as Southwestern Christian’s Hannah Wade.
