OKLAHOMA CITY – After picking up a pair of wins against NAIA Top 25 teams last week, Mid-America Christian swept the Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week awards for Sept. 6-12 with Rodrigo Albuquerque collecting the offensive accolade and Emanuele Grumo earning the defensive honor.

It is the fourth time in Albuquerque’s three seasons with MACU that he was named the offensive recipient, while Grumo is a first-time honoree.

Offensive player of the week: Rodrigo Albuquerque | F | Sr. | Recife, Brazil

After leading No. 7 Mid-America Christian to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at No. 16 Georgia Gwinnett on Labor Day and a 5-1 win over No. 22 Lyon on Saturday, Albuquerque finished the week with a total of four goals and an assist for nine points. Despite trailing 2-0 at the halftime break against the Grizzlies, the Recife, Brazil product spearheaded the comeback by scoring MACU’s first goal of the contest before pushing across his first game-winner of the season in the 87th minute to secure the victory.
