OKLAHOMA CITY – After leading the No. 5 Mid-America Christian men’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over No. 22 Morningside on Saturday, the Evangels swept the Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week awards for Sept. 20-26 as Jack Price was named the offensive recipient while Dejue Johnson earned the defensive accolade.
In his first season with the Evangels, Price is garnering his first ever SAC weekly honor while Johnson is earning his second award this season and the fourth of his career.

In just his fourth match with Mid-America Christian, junior forward Jack Price scored his third goal of the season and his first game-winner in the 68th minute against No. 22 Morningside, giving the Evangels a 2-0 lead at the time before pulling away with a 3-1 victory. Price also notched his second assist of the season on Adrian Heinle’s go-ahead goal in the first half. Currently, Price ranks fourth on the team in goals scored with three and fourth in total points with eight.

Defensive player of the week: Dejue Johnson | D | Sr. | Linstead, Jamaica
Senior defender Dejue Johnson once again led the defensive efforts as the MACU men’s soccer team picked up their fourth win over an NAIA Top-25 team. Facing No. 22 Morningside in a rematch of the NAIA Opening Round this past spring, Johnson held a Mustangs team that came into the match averaging 3.43 goals on 14.3 shots per game to only one goal on five shots, just three landing on-goal. The Linstead, Jamaica produce also contributed on the offensive end, recording an assist on Price’s game-winner in the second half.
