OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University earned the No. 1 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference softball tournament beginning 11 a.m. Thursday both at Ann Lacy Stadium and Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha, Okla.
The eight league teams who made the tournament will play out two four-team double-elimination brackets. The two teams that come out from both brackets will square off for the conference tournament title 1 p.m. Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Top seed Oklahoma City, ranked second among the NAIA, and second seed Science & Arts, ranked fifth nationally, shared the SAC regular-season championship. OCU gained the No. 1 seed based on its 3-1 mark against Science & Arts in 2022.
On May 8, 2021, Science & Arts prevailed 3-1 over Oklahoma City to take the SAC Tournament title at Ann Lacy Stadium. Emily Cerny limited the Stars to one run on eight hits while striking out seven.
