Williams repeats as women's runner of week

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jaelynn Williams from Texas Wesleyan grabbed Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference women's track & field runner of the week for the second week in a row. 

Langston hauled in the men's runner of the week (Malik Williams) and women's field athlete of the week (Chasity Veals), while Wayland Baptist's Lorenzo Luces became the men's field athlete of the week among the SAC for March 20-26. 


Men's runner of the week: Malik Williams | So.  

Malik Williams got his outdoor season under way in winning fashion with a first-place showing in the 100 meters in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on Saturday in Shawnee, Okla. Williams hit the A qualifying mark for the NAIA Championships on May 24-26 in Marion, Ind., with a time of 10.46 seconds.

Men's field athlete of the week: Lorenzo Luces | Fr. | Brazil Village, Trinidad & Tobago 

Lorenzo Luces took the triple jump in the Masked Rider Open on Friday in Lubbock, Texas, with the third finest jump among the NAIA this season (48 feet, 3¼ inches) in Wayland Baptist's debut in the outdoor season.

Women's runner of the week: Jaelynn Williams | So. | Prosper, Texas 

Jaelynn Williams broke a Texas Wesleyan record for the second meet in a row in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational, covering the 200 meters in 24.64 seconds to finish fifth and run an A standard qualifying time for the NAIA Championships. That mark stands as the No. 8 best time in the event in the NAIA this season. Williams took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.96 seconds to make the B standard national qualifying list with the fourth fastest time of the season in the NAIA.

Women's field athlete of the week: Chasity Veals | Jr. | Richardson, Texas 

Chasity Veals collected first place in the triple jump in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational with a mark of 37 feet, 10 inches (11.53 meters), which made the B standard qualifying list for the national meet.
