Veals takes third consecutive SAC field athlete of week accolade

OKLAHOMA CITY – Chasity Veals of Langston collected her third Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference women's field athlete of the week in a row. 

Each of the other SAC honorees became repeat recipients in 2022-23. 


Men's runner of the week: Tajean Houston | Jr. | Kingston, Jamaica 

Tajean Houston posted the top time in the 110-meter hurdles (14.32 seconds) while setting a Texas Wesleyan record in the North Texas Invitational on Saturday in Denton, Texas. Houston notched an A standard time for the NAIA Championships, beating his old record time of 14.47 seconds clocked in the Texas Christian Invitational. Houston's mark ranks seventh in the NAIA and No. 1 in the SAC this season. He snared his second SAC runner of the week nod of the season.

Men's field athlete of the week: Lorenzo Luces | Fr. | Brazil Village, Trinidad & Tobago 

Lorenzo Luces took first in the West Texas A&M Jo Meaker Classic in the triple jump Saturday in Canyon, Texas. Luces improved upon his season best with a mark of 48 feet, 10¼ inches, which ranks eighth in the NAIA this season. Luces became a two-time SAC athlete of the week this season.

Women's runner of the week: Jaelynn Williams | So. | Prosper, Texas 

Jaelynn Williams covered the 100 meters in 11.83 seconds in the UNT Invitational. Williams' mark topped the Texas Wesleyan record book and made the A standard national qualifying list. Williams' time stands fourth in the NAIA and tops in the SAC in 2022-23. She has grabbed three runner of the week nods on the season.

Women's field athlete of the week: Chasity Veals | Jr. 

Chasity Veals placed second in the K.T. Woodman Classic on Friday in Wichita, Kan., in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 4 inches. Veals' mark ranks No. 4 in the NAIA on the season and placed her on the A standard list for the NAIA Championships. She finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 11¾ inches.
