McPherson, Kan. – Central Christian College Athletics Director, Kyle Moody is pleased to announce the hiring of Brad Willems as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Willems replaces Matt Barreiro, who resigned earlier this summer.

Willems got his start in coaching as a student assistant for the Bethany College football team in the late 1990s. From there he has coached multiple sports over the past 25 years at the junior high and high school level, with stops out in western Kansas at Oakley High School, and Sharon Springs High. Most recently, Coach Willems was the head coach for the girls’ basketball program at Canton-Galva High School. In addition to his numerous coaching rolls, Coach Willems has spent the bulk of the past two decades working in the Insurance field.

“My family and I are very excited about this opportunity to lead and build this program,” said Willems. “We are truly blessed to have this opportunity and look forward to building lasting relationships with the players!”

“After a nationwide search we have hired a home grown coach from right here in McPherson,” said AD Moody. “Throughout the search process we were really looking for a coach that loves Jesus, knows basketball and knows the local area well so that that person could recruit local Kansas players. I can confidently say that Coach Willems meets those criterion.”

With the current players already on campus, Coach Willems is quickly immersing himself in the Central Christian College culture, trying to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Coach Willems and his wife Jacque currently live in McPherson. They have three children Katelyn, Jake, and Claire
