Oklahoma City – Ernest Ceasar of Texas Wesleyan has been named the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive and Athlete of the Year as voted on by conference coaches as announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
Isiah Cotton of OUAZ earned the league’s Defensive Player of the Year while Draylon Roberson of Panhandle State was named Special Teams Player of the Year. Corey Floyd, Jr., of OUAZ claimed the conference Newcomer of the Year honor while Tyrone Morgan of Wayland Baptist earned the Freshman of the Year award. Jarrail Jackson of Texas College was named the 2024 SAC Coach of the Year award.
Ceasar led the Rams to an undefeated regular season by rushing for 1,109 yards with a new NAIA single-season record of 40 touchdowns, averaging 110.9 yards per contest. Ceasar also led the league in all-purpose yardage with 1,369 yards. Ceasar finished his career with 63 rushing touchdowns.
Cotton was a key defensive player for the Spirit as he was fourth in the conference with 79 total tackles with 35 of those being solo stops. Cotton also had 12.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks on the year.
Roberson led the league in kick returns with 641 yards on 20 returns for an average of 32.1 yards per return while scoring three touchdowns. Roberson also was second in the conference in all-purpose yards with 1,242 yards for an average of 124.2 yards per game.
Floyd Jr. paced OUAZ by leading the conference with 15.5 tackles for a loss for 86 yards with 13 of those being solo stops. Floyd Jr. also was second in the league with 7.5 sacks while forcing a pair of fumbles.
Morgan paced Wayland Baptist with eight total pass breakups and a pair of interceptions on the season while adding 30 total tackles with 22 of those being solo stops.
Jackson led Texas College to their best season in program history by going 7-3 overall and placing in a tie for third in the conference with a mark of 5-3. The Steers had a perfect 4-0 mark at home while adding a 1-0 record on neutral sites.
