Loux Named SAC Softball Player of the Year Honors

Williams Gains Pitcher of the Year Award

Oklahoma City – After leading Oklahoma City to the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season title, Baileigh Loux has been named the 2024 SAC Softball Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches before the conference tournament.
 
Sophie Williams of Science & Arts garnered the conference Pitcher of the Year award while Emerson Heron of Oklahoma City earned the Newcomer of the Year with teammate Tara Hoehner claiming Freshman of the Year honors. Stars Associate Head Coach Bobbi Bridges was voted as the SAC Coach of the Year.
 
Loux helped lead the Stars to an overall record of 48-2 and a league mark of 35-1 as Oklahoma City heads into the conference tournament as the No. 2 team in the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Loux led the conference with a .523 batting average and in hits with 81. Loux also was tops in the league with 64 runs batted in and in both on-base percentage (.571) and in OPS with a 1.442 average.
 
Williams was the top pitcher in the conference with a 20-4 record, including a new NAIA National record of four perfect games this season. Williams was tops in the league with a 0.89 earned run average and in strikeouts with 197, including 51 strikeouts looking. She also was tops in the conference with 59 hits allowed and tied for runs allowed with 23.
 
Heron finished the season for the Stars ranking third in the conference with a .459 batting average while leading the league with a .873 slugging percentage. Heron was also first in doubles with 21 and second in home runs with 12.
 
Hoehner had an outstanding freshman campaign by finishing 10th with a .421 batting average and was fifth with a .730 slugging percentage. Hoehner was also fourth in the conference with 52 runs batted in and 19 doubles.
 
Bridges helped guide the Stars to their 12th regular season championship and a No. 2 ranking in the nation as they will enter the conference tournament on a 29-game winning streak.
