John Brown Takes the Top Spot on the SAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

Oklahoma City – After claiming the Sooner Athletic Conference championship for the fourth consecutive year, the John Brown University women's soccer team will begin the 2024 season as the top squad in the conference as voted upon by the league's coaches.

The Golden Eagles garnered the top spot on the list with 81 points and all nine first-place votes by the coaches after finishing the 2023 season with an overall record of 18-3-1 and a conference mark of 8-0-1. John Brown won the title game 3-0 over Science & Arts before advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Drovers earned the second nod on the list with 68 points and garnered the other first-place vote after finishing last season with an overall record of 14-6 and a league mark of 7-2 before falling in the title game.

Mid-America Christian enters the fall as the third team in the poll with 65 points after wrapping up the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 15-4-2 and a 6-1-2 league record.

Oklahoma City grabbed the fourth spot on the list with 57 points with Nelson rounding out the top five on the list with 50 points.

The 2024 season begins on Saturday, August 17, as Texas Wesleyan takes on LSU-Alexandria in Alexandria, La., starting at 3 p.m.
