Giron, Mitchell, and Hilborn Earn SAC Oklahoma Ford Dealers Football Player of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City – Luke Giron of OUAZ, Quaveann Mitchell of Nelson, and Levi Hilborn of Louisiana Christian are this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Oklahoma Ford Dealers Football Players of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
 
Giron earned the league’s Offensive Player of the Week honor while Mitchell was named Defensive Player of the Week, with Hilborn garnering the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
 
Giron led the Spirit to a 51-26 victory over Texas College by completing 30 out of 41 passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Giron averages 10 yards per completion and found 11 different OUAZ receivers in his 30 completions. Giron finished the victory with an efficiency rating of 184.1 on the day.

Mitchell was a huge part of the Lions 39-8 victory over Arkansas Baptist from his defensive end position with eight total tackles in the game. Mitchell had four solo stops while adding four assists in the win. Mitchell also had a pair of sacks for 11 yards and four tackles for a loss.
 
Other Nominees - Corey Floyd, OUAZ, Aaron Acosta-Lewis, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Logan Brimmer, Louisiana Christian, Jay Reed, Texas Wesleyan, Xander Baldwin, Arkansas Baptist, and Travis Martin, Langston.
 
Hilborn paced the Wildcats in a 50-15 victory over Langston to give them their first win of the season as he was 1-of-2 in field goals with his make for 42 yards out tying a career-best. Hilborn also was 5-of-6 in extra point attempts while hitting three punts for an average of 39 yards all of which were downed inside the 20-yard line. Hilborn also completed the Wildcats’ first successful onside kick attempt since 2017 to open the second half.
