Oklahoma City – After completing a historic season last year, Langston will begin the season as the top-ranked team in the 2025-26 Sooner Athletic Conference Women's basketball Preseason Poll as voted on by the league's coaches.
The Lions garnered 121 points and 11 first-place votes as they finished last season with an overall record of 32-3 and a league best mark of 23-1 after claiming both the conference regular season and tournament titles. Langston advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and advanced to the final site before falling to eventual national champion Dordt in the quarterfinals.
Texas Wesleyan claimed the second spot in the poll with 96 points and a first-place nod after finishing fifth in the league with an overall record of 19-10 and a conference record of 15-9. The Rams advanced to the conference tournament before falling to College of the Ozarks in the quarterfinals.
John Brown will enter the season in the third position with 87 points after finishing seventh in the league last season with an overall record of 13-16 and a league record of 11-13 before falling to Wayland Baptist in the conference quarterfinals.
College of the Ozarks rounds out the top four as the Bobcats received 86 points after claiming fourth place in the league last year with an overall record of 23-11 and a league record of 17-7. College of the Ozarks advanced to the conference semifinals before falling to Langston and then advanced to the NAIA Tournament before losing to Hastings in the opening round.
