Oklahoma City – Marcos Miranda of John Brown University has been named the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches. Oklahoma City Head Coach Billy Martin earned the conference Coach of the Year award to headline the league’s postseason awards.
Francis Motsi of Wayland Baptist claimed the conference Offensive Player of the Year award, while Lucas Catosso of Mid-America Christian and Shay Prescod of Oklahoma City were named Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Ethan Taylor of Oklahoma City garnered the Newcomer of the Year honor, while Harrison Knight of Oklahoma City was named the Freshman of the Year, with Alexis Bertrand of Oklahoma City collecting the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Martin guided the Stars to both the conference regular season and tournament titles with an overall record of 14-3-4 and a league mark of 5-0-4, with the Oklahoma City defense allowing .76 goals per match while scoring 2.23 goals a game.
Miranda was a key player for the Golden Eagles as he had four goals on the season with seven assists for 15 points from his midfield position. Miranda led John Brown with 41 shots, with 18 of those being on frame.
Motsi led the conference in shots with 72 and in shots on goal with 42 while scoring eight goals this season and having eight assists during the year. Motsi was also tied for second in the league with 1.60 points per match this season.
Catosso anchored the Evangel’s defense that allowed 1.35 goals per match while adding a goal and an assist on the season. Prescod also aided the Stars’ backline in allowing less than a goal per match while scoring a goal during the year.
Taylor scored five goals this season and added four helpers for 14 points while having 35 shots with 16 of those being on frame. Taylor also had one game-winning goal during the year.
Knight was second in scoring for Oklahoma City as he had six goals and seven assists for 19 points. Knight also led the Stars with 52 shots and was second on the team with 20 shots on goal.
Bertrand led the conference in saves with a .769 save percentage while making 50 stops this season for Oklahoma City. Bertrand also led the league with six shutouts and in goals against average as he surrendered 15 goals for a .765 goals against average.
