OKLAHOMA CITY — Megan Nestor of Wayland Baptist has been named the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. The league’s 13 head coaches voted on the award.
First-year head coach Chris Vincent of Langston earned the conference Coach of the Year award after leading the Lions to their first conference regular season and tournament championship since joining the SAC.
Mikayla Woods of Langston was named the Defensive Player of the Year, while Sarah Snodgrass of John Brown garnered the league’s Freshman of the Year honor, with Diamond Richardson of Langston earning the Newcomer of the Year award. Langston’s Jordynn Conner grabbed the Sixth Women of the Year honor, and Caelyn Ferguson of John Brown garnered the league’s Sportsmanship Award.
Nestor paced the Flying Queens to a second-place finish in the regular season by leading the conference in scoring with a 19.8 points per game average and was second in the league with 13.5 rebounds per game.
Wood was a key part of the Langston defensive efforts as the Lions were the top defensive team in the conference by surrendering only 48.9 points per game. Woods averaged 6.6 defensive rebounds per game and was second in the league with 2.7 steals per contest.
Snodgrass was second in the conference in scoring by pouring in 18.1 points per game and was third in the league with 12.5 rebounds per contest.
Richardson was second in scoring for Langston with 12.3 points per game and was also second in assists with 2.1 helpers per game.
Conner was outstanding coming off the bench for Langston. She averaged 7.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
Ferguson earned the conference Sportsmanship Award from the coaches as she was a great example of how to conduct herself on the court during the season.
Vincent led the Lions to an overall record of 28-2 and a conference mark of 22-2 to win the SAC regular-season title. Langston is also ranked 17th in the final NAIA Coaches Top 25 and will host the first and second rounds of the NAIA Post-Season Tournament.
