Oklahoma City- Luke Giron and Corey Floyd Jr., of OUAZ, and Mark Mukiibi of Wayland Baptist are this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Giron earned the league’s Offensive Player of the Week honor while Floyd Jr. was named Defensive Player of the Week, with Mukiibi garnering the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
Giron paced the Spirit to a 49-7 victory over Wayland Baptist by going 19-of-27 for 266 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 13 times for 71 yards in the win. Giron averaged 9.9 yards per completion and finished the evening with a 189.8 passing efficiency rating in the victory.

Floyd Jr. aided the Spirit in the win over Wayland Baptist by having 10 total tackles, with six of those being solo stops, while also adding 1.5 sacks for 13 yards, and three tackles for a loss. Floyd Jr. was also credited with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the win.

Mukiibi led the Wayland Baptist special teams’ efforts with five kick returns for 143 yards as he scored the Pioneers’ lone touchdown with an 89-yard return for a score in the 49-7 loss to OUAZ. Mukiibi averaged 28.6 yards per return in the contest.
