Oklahoma City – Micah Clark and JJ Boling of Nelson have earned this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Men’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Clark claimed his third consecutive weekly award by pacing the Lions to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 29.5 points per game on 51.3 percent shooting from the field. Clark scored 31 points in a win over Central Christian and then added 28 points in a victory over Langston that secured the top seed in the upcoming tournament. Clark hit nine three-point shots over the span while adding 15 rebounds and a pair of assists in the two wins.
Other Nominees - Mohand Ammad, Science and Arts, Jay Baxter, College of the Ozarks, Jonas Carlisle, Oklahoma City, Jamari Lawrence, Wayland Baptist, Trae Oetting, John Brown, Orlando Thomas, Langston, and Morris Williams, Mid-America Christian.
Boling was a key defensive player for the Lions in their two wins last week by holding the scorers for both Central Christian and Langston well below their season scoring average. Boling grabbed five defensive boards, had a steal, and a block during the week as Nelson claimed the regular-season title for the second straight season.
