OKLAHOMA CITY – A total of 117 student-athletes from the league’s women’s basketball and women’s wrestling programs received recognition by being named to the Sooner Athletic Conference academic all-conference team on Wednesday.
To earn academic all-SAC honors, the recipients must have maintained a 3.25 grade-point-average over the academic year while also being a regular letterwinner within their program.
Overall, there were 91 representatives from the SAC’s 12 basketball programs as Southwestern Christian led the way with 16 honorees. John Brown also put together a stellar year academically with 12 being named to the distinguished list while 10 student-athletes from the Stars earned the accolade.
Oklahoma City and Wayland Baptist paved the way amongst the 25 honorees in women’s wrestling with seven apiece while Missouri Baptist and Texas Wesleyan each added four to the list.
