Week 2: Football Players of the Week

Francis makes immediate impact in his first game for Firestorm

OKLAHOMA CITY – Arizona Christian’s Tyler Duncan collected his sixth career Sooner Athletic Conference offensive player of the week.  

The other honorees by the SAC for Sept. 5-11 were Arizona Christian’s Jordan Francis (defensive player of the week) and OUAZ’s Landon Reeves (special teams player of the week). 


Offensive player of the week: Tyler Duncan | Sr. | QB | Glendale, Ariz. 

Tyler Duncan fired three touchdown passes and added a touchdown run in Arizona Christian’s 52-12 romp past Fort Lewis (Colo.) on Saturday in Durango, Colo. Duncan completed 13 of 24 passes for 143 and ran for 35 yards on 11 carries to key the Firestorm to their first win of the year. He surpassed the 6,000-yard career passing mark early in the game.

Defensive player of the week: Jordan Francis | So. | DB | Concord, Calif. 

Jordan Francis tracked down three interceptions to tie the Firestorm’s single-game program record in his Arizona Christian debut. Thanks to Francis leading the charge, the Firestorm set a program single-game best with five interceptions against the Skyhawks.

Special teams player of the week: Landon Reeves | Jr. | K | Idalou, Texas 

Landon Reeves tied the OUAZ record by hitting three field goals to go with all four of his extra-point attempts. Reeves had 13 points in a 39-12 victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday in Surprise, Ariz., in his first action since 2019. He added four touchbacks on eight kickoffs and his angled kickoff allowed the cover team to force and recover a fumble to start the second half.
