Week 1: Track Athletes of the Week

Robeaux highlights indoor track athletes of week for Jan. 2-8

OKLAHOMA CITY – The first set of Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference indoor track & field athletes of the week for 2022-23 features Oklahoma City University’s Brendan Robeaux, who ran the best time in the NAIA this season in the 1,000 meters over the weekend. 

This week’s honorees include Southwestern Assemblies of God’s Ismael Ealoms (men’s field athlete of the week) and Daisy Otwell (women’s runner of the week) and Langston’s Chasity Veals (women’s field athlete of the week). 


Men’s runner of the week: Brendan Robeaux | So. | Mustang, Okla. 

Brendan Robeaux turned in the top time in the 1,000 meters among the NAIA this season in the Friends First Chance Qualifier on Saturday in Wichita, Kan. Robeaux delivered a mark of 2 minutes, 28.08 seconds to finish second place at the Heskett Center. Robeaux met the A standard for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 2-4 in Brookings, S.D.

Men’s field athlete of the week: Ismael Ealoms | Fr. | Bryan, Texas 

Ismael Ealoms finished fourth in the weight throw in the First Chance Qualifier. Ealoms produced a mark of 44 feet, 4¾ inches Saturday. 

Other nominee: Kendall Caffey, Langston. 


Women’s runner of the week: Daisy Otwell | Fr. | DeLeon, Texas 

Daisy Otwell took the 3,000-meter race in the Friends First Chance Qualifier. Otwell’s winning time was 11:34.30. Otwell also collected third place in the mile Saturday in Wichita, Kan. 

Other nominees: Cailen Jolley, Oklahoma City; Maysha Vickers, Langston. 


Women’s field athlete of the week: Chasity Veals | Jr. | Richardson, Texas 

Chasity Veals outdistanced the competition in the triple jump in the First Chance Qualifier with a leap of 39 feet, ½ inch. Veals’ mark ranks as the fourth best in the NAIA for 2022-23, putting her on the A standard list for the NAIA Indoor Championships. Veals placed second in the long jump with her mark of 17 feet, 11¾ inches.
