McPherson, Kan. – Chris and Jaeden Whitten grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas playing basketball together since the age of 5. This has kept them close and it was what would lead them to Central.
After not knowing where they wanted to go after high school and reviewing offers, Chris committed to Central early in 2022. Jaeden would take the year off to prepare and train for whatever would await him the following year.
When the Tigers would come to play in Texas, Jaeden would be in the stands, supporting his brother, and was able to talk to Coach Romero about a potential spot on the roster next season. Jaeden jumped at the opportunity to play collegiate basketball but more importantly, he would be back with his brother. After that conversation, Jaeden trained even harder and could not wait for the 2023 season to fall around.
Meanwhile, Chris mentioned his freshman year was tough because he was in a new place and did not know anyone. Phone calls with his brother almost every day would be one of the things that helped him through this time.
Once the fall of 2023 finally arrived, the Whitten twins were reunited and back together on the basketball court. The chemistry between the two is evident and each of them makes an impact with each opportunity they receive.
Coming off the bench and earning minutes, Jaeden continues to make the most of when he is in the game. Jaeden says the reason he plays so hard is for his wife and for his son Dallas, who passed away last year.
Both Chris and Jaeden are Criminal Justice majors and have found a second home here at Central playing for Coach Tony Romero. They hope to continue their high level of play but more importantly, continue to make a positive impact on those around them.
