Oklahoma City – The John Brown women's basketball team will join four other Sooner Athletic Conference schools in the 2024 NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament as announced by the NAIA National Office Thursday evening.
Langston, Mid-America Christian, Wayland Baptist, and Science & Arts all saw their name on the bracket as they will join the Golden Eagles in the 64-team field with the opportunity to claim the coveted Red Banner.
The 11
th-ranked Golden Eagles will host the first and second round in Siloam Springs, Ark., as the No. 3 seed in the Liston Quadrant and will take on No. 14 seed Xavier. No. 6 seed Indiana Tech will face No. 11 St. Thomas in the other opening-round contest.
Joining John Brown in the Liston Quadrant is Mid-America Christian as the No. 10 seed Evangels will travel to Wichita, Kan., to take on No. 7 Briar Cliff. No. 2 Vanguard will face No. 15 Saint Mary in the other contest.
Langston is also in the Liston Quadrant as the No. 8 seed and will face the No. 9 seed Spring Arbor at Sioux Center, Iowa in first-round action. The winner of that contest will take on the winner of the No.1 Dordt and No. 16 Oakland City match-up.
The Flying Queens earned the No. 11 seed in the Naismith Quadrant and will travel to Seward, Neb., to play No. 6 seed Columbia College. Joining them in Seward will be No. 3 seed Concordia and No. 14 seed Benedictine.
Science & Arts will head to Madison, South Dakota, as the No. 13 seed in the Cramer Quadrant and will meet up with No. 4 seed Dakota State. No. 5 Grand View and No. 12 IU South Bend round out the field in the first round.
The winners of the second-round games will advance to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, for a chance to bring home the national title and the Red Banner starting on March 21.
