Oklahoma City – Jaelynn Williams of Texas Wesleyan and Ahmia Dorsey of Langston earned this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Oklahoma Ford Dealers Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts during the period ending April 28, 2024, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Williams won the 100m in 11.64 seconds and the 200m in 24.14 seconds, both new personal bests at the SAC Championships. She also ran a leg on the 4 x 100m relay team that won with a new personal best of 47.52 seconds. The 200m time is a new automatic national qualifying time, but the 100m was just over the allowable wind, so her previous 11.65 still stands as her national mark. The relay time was an improved national qualifying mark for that group. Williams was also named the Meet’s Most Outstanding Athlete.
Other Nominees - Jamiah Clay, Panhandle State, Ky'Leah Hill, Langston University, and Cailen Jolley, Oklahoma City.
Dorsey won the Triple Jump at the SAC Track and Field Championships with a leap of 11.55m. This distance was good enough for an NAIA National “B” Standard as she will now advance to the National Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well as the longest jump of the season in the conference.
Other Nominees - Chioma Obi, Texas Wesleyan and Fiona Wilson, Oklahoma City.
