The 2026 SAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships Head to Nelson University

Oklahoma City – The 2026 Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet will head to the Lions Sports Complex on the campus of Nelson University in Waxahachie, Texas, starting with multi events and the men’s and women’s 10,000-meter run on Thursday, April 23.
 
The meet will continue with the last set of multi-events on Friday, April 24, and the remaining events starting at 4 p.m. and then continuing Saturday, April 25, beginning with field events starting at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
 
On the men’s side, Wayland Baptist will look to defend its team title, which was the first in program history. The Pioneers placed second in the 4x400-meter relay to give them the title with 152 points as they inched out Texas Wesleyan, who placed third in the last event of the day, as the Rams scored 147 points. Nelson finished the championship in third place with 134 points, while Langston claimed the fourth spot with 88 points. Panhandle State completed the top five in the team race with 71 points.
 
The John Brown women’s team used a strong performance in the final event of the meet to claim their first-ever track and field title. The Golden Eagles placed fifth in the 4x400-meter relay to earn four points as they finished the championship with 109 points to edge out Oklahoma City by a point. Langston finished third in the meet with 106 points, while Panhandle State earned fourth place with 102 points. Nelson rounded out the top five with 101 points, as only eight points separated the top five schools in one of the closest team title races in championship history.
