OKLAHOMA CITY – The first Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference baseball players of the week went to Bryson Collins from Southwestern Assemblies of God (player of the week) and Ty Jackson of Wayland Baptist (pitcher of the week).
Jackson twirled a complete-game shutout, while Collins led Southwestern Assemblies of God to a series win in the first weekend of the season.
Player of the week: Bryson Collins | INF | Sr. | Mansfield, Texas
Bryson Collins posted a .400 batting average with two doubles, five runs scored and five runs driven in. Collins knocked in the winning run with a base hit to center field in the eighth inning of Southwestern Assemblies of God’s 7-6 victory over Avila (Mo.) on Saturday in Waxahachie, Texas. The Lions took three out of four from Avila.

Ty Jackson, a senior right-hander from Shallowater, Texas, shut down Houston-Victoria through seven innings in the Pioneers' season-opening 1-0 road victory. Jackson scattered six hits and recorded seven strikeouts with only one walk in the win. He fired 115 pitches while stranding nine runners.
