Texas Wesleyan Garners the Top Spot in the SAC Baseball Coaches Pre-Season Poll

Oklahoma City – After winning the 2023 regular season championship, Texas Wesleyan was tabbed as the top team in the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Pre-Season Poll as voted on by a committee of the league's head coaches. 
 
Science & Arts will begin the season in the No. 2 position after advancing to the 2023 SAC Championship game while defending tournament champion Oklahoma City is slotted into the No. 3 spot. Mid-America Christian enters the season in the fourth spot.
 
The Rams won the regular season title with an overall record of 37-15 and a league mark of 18-6 before falling in the conference tournament. Texas Wesleyan advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and went 1-2 in their region. The Rams will also enter the season ranked 21st in the National NAIA Coaches Pre-Season Poll.
 
The Drovers wrapped up the 2023 regular season with a record of 35-20 while going 17-7 in conference action. Science & Arts advanced to the conference tournament championship game before falling to Oklahoma City. The Drovers also moved on to the NAIA National Tournament where they finished with a 1-2 mark in the region. Science & Arts received votes in the national Pre-Season Poll.
 
The Stars are the defending tournament champion and finished the 2023 regular season with a record of 32-21 and a league mark of 16-8. Oklahoma City advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and fell in the regional final while finishing regional play with a 2-2 record. The Stars are also receiving votes in the National Pre-Season Poll.
 
The Evangels finished the 2023 regular season with an overall record of 39-17 and a league mark of 15-9 before falling in the conference tournament in the second round. This was the winningest season in program history for Mid-America Christian.
 
Southwestern Christian’s second baseman Jhors Gomez was named to the 2024 Pre-Season Baseball All-American Team as voted on by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches committee. Gomez was named to the SAC First Team last season after leading the conference on hitting with a .485 batting average and was also the top player in the SAC in hits with 98.
