Silva and Loya Selected as SAC Runners of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Evert Silva of Oklahoma City and Rebecca Loya, College of the Ozarks were selected this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Oklahoma Ford Dealers Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week for their performances in Week 8 (Oct. 14-20), the conference office announced Tuesday morning (Oct. 22).

Silva paced the Stars to a 15th-place finish in the team standings at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas. He set a new personal best on the 8,000-meter course by finishing third out of 368 runners with a time of 22:25.9. This was the highest finish by an NAIA runner.

Other Nominees: Tanner Bailey, College of the Ozarks; Trevor Searls, Nelson.

Loya competed in the Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic, hosted by Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.), in St. Louis as she led the Bobcats to a first-place finish. Loya earned second place overall in the individual race by finishing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:51.
