Oklahoma City – Tate Picklo of Oklahoma City has been named the NAIA National Men’s Wrestler of the Week for his efforts over the past week, as announced by the national office on Tuesday afternoon. The award is voted on by a national panel of institutional and conference sports information directors.
Picklo took part in the Falcon Open and finished first in the Elite Bracket with a 4-0 record, which included three technical falls, including one over the seventh-ranked wrestler in the 174 lb. weight class. Picklo, ranked eighth nationally, defeated the third-ranked wrestler in his weight class in an 11-6 decision to claim the title.
This is the first time that a men’s wrestler from the SAC has won the national weekly award since Johnathon Ortegon of Wayland Baptist claimed the honor on February 3, 2021.
