Bailey and Chavez Claim SAC Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City – Tanner Bailey of College of the Ozarks and Shania Chavez of Panhandle State are this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Bailey took part in the Queen City invitational and set a new personal best in the 8K with a time of 25:08.00. This mark was good enough to put Bailey in second place in the individual race, which was the best finish by an NAIA runner in a field that included many NAIA and NCAA Division II competitors.

Other Nominees - Jonathan Avila, Mid-America Christian, Ryder Robison, Wayland Baptist, and Trevor Youngblood, Oklahoma Panhandle State.

Chavez took part in the Mustang Derby Collegiate and placed 17th in the event with a new school record time of 15:37.4 over the 4K course. Chavez outdistanced runners from two other SAC schools in an event that saw runners from all over the Southwest.

Other Nominees - Keena Goze, College of the Ozarks, Inmaculada Delgado, Wayland Baptist, and Ashlyn Vasquez, Mid-America Christian.
