Oklahoma City – Katalina Chan of John Brown and Avery Brown of Panhandle State have been named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Women’s Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week for their efforts this past week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
 
Chan took part in the St. Mary Spire Distance Carnival and Team Challenge and had an outstanding season-opening meet. Chan earned first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.94 and then earned a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash with a mark of 12.01. Chan was also part of the Golden Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team that finished third with a time of 4:03.38.

Brown also took part in the St. Mary’s event and opened the season with a pair of outstanding performances. Brown earned an 11^th-place finish in the Hammer with a toss of 35.89m and then claimed a 13^th-place finish in the Discus with a throw of 32.75m.
