De Jong Named SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year

Crick Earns Conference Coach of the Year Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY – Ilse de Jong of Science & Arts was named the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s head coaches. De Jong also earned the Offensive Player of the Year award as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.

Science & Arts Head Coach Niall Crick was named the conference Coach of the Year while Kylie Yousey of USAO earned the Defensive Player of the Year with her teammate Ashlee Davison claimed the Freshman of the Year honor. Asley Baker of Mid-America Christian garnered the Newcomer of the Year award while John Brown’s Marely Fonseca grabbed the Goalkeeper of the Year honor.

Crick led Science & Arts to an overall record of 17-2-1 and a league mark of 8-1 as the Drovers claimed a share of the regular season title. Crick’s offense averaged nearly three goals per game, allowing 1.10 goals per contest.

De Jong aided the Drovers to a runner-up finish in the SAC Postseason Tournament by scoring 14 goals on the season while adding seven assists to her stat line. De Jong finished fourth in shots with 74 and out 39 of those shots on frame.

Yousey was a key part of the Drovers’ defense that allowed 1.10 goals per game adding a goal on three shots this season.

Davison was third for Science & Arts with 20 points on six goals and eight assists this season as she had 42 shots with 24 being on frame.

Baker played in all 20 matches this season for the Evangels as she scored 10 points with three goals and four assists on 14 shots.

Fonseca led the Golden Eagles to their fifth consecutive SAC title with a record of 10-2-0 while becoming the first freshman in program history to backstop the program to a regular season and tournament title as a freshman. Fonseca led the conference with a .560 goals against average and in saves with 32 for a save percentage of .821.
