Gonzalez and Hunter Garner SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City –Ashley Gonzalez of Nelson and Areyanna Hunter of Langston have earned this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
 
Gonzalez helped the Lions to an 81-66 victory over Texas Wesleyan by scoring 27 points on 60 percent shooting from the field. Gonzalez also hit eight three-pointers in the win, shooting 61.5 percent from beyond the arc. She also added five rebounds, two assists, and a steal to her stat line for the week.
 
Other Nominees - Areyanna Hunter, Langston and Ellie Willard, Oklahoma City.
 
Hunter paced the Lions to a 2-0 record last week, grabbing three defensive boards, eight steals, and a block. In the Langston 49-28 win over Central Christian, Hunter had two defensive caroms, six steals, and a block. Hunter also averaged 22 points over the two-game span.
