Oklahoma City – After claiming the regular season and tournament championship, Langston will lead three other Sooner Athletic Conference schools into the 2025 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament, with action slated to begin at 16 regional sites nationwide on Friday.
The 16 regional winners will advance to the NAIA Final Site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, scheduled to begin on March 20, with the title game on March 25.
The Lions will join SAC tournament runner-up Mid-America Christian as the conference automatic berths while Wayland and College of the Ozarks garnered at-large berths into the field.
Langston will host a first and second round regional as the No. 4 seed in the Naismith Quadrant. The Lions enter the tournament with an overall record of 29-2 and are making their 16
th appearance in the tournament field. They will play No. 13 seed Blue Mountain Christian, who won the Southern States Tournament crown with an overall mark of 19-11. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
The second semifinal will feature the No. 5 seed Dakota Wesleyan, who claimed an at-large berth with an overall record of 24-6. They will face No. 12 seed The Master’s, who won the GSAC tournament championship with an overall mark of 19-7. The contest is set to begin at 8 p.m., with the regional championship set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
Mid-America Christian will head to Olathe, Kansas, as the No. 7 seed in the Duer Quadrant with an overall record of 25-6, as this will be their fifth consecutive trip to the tournament. The Evangels will face off against No. 10 seed Northwestern, who grabbed an at-large berth out of the GPAC with an overall record of 18-11. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. Friday evening.
The second semifinal will see No. 2 seed MidAmerica Christian, who won the Heart regular season with an overall mark of 28-3. They will take on No. 15 seed Kansas Wesleyan, who claimed the KCAC regular season title with an overall mark of 23-7. The contest will begin on Friday at 6 p.m., with the championship game slated for Saturday at 7 p.m.
Wayland Baptist heads to Ashland, Oregon, as the No. 7 seed in the Cramer Quadrant with an overall record of 25-4 as they have entered the tournament field for the 12
th straight year. They will meet No. 10 seed Carroll, who claimed an at-large berth out of the Frontier with an overall mark of 19-11. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
The second regional semifinal will see No. 2 seed Southern Oregon, who won both the Cascade’s regular season and tournament titles with an overall record of 31-0. They will face off against No. 15 seed UC Merced, who were the Cal Pac tournament champions with an overall mark of 17-8. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. PT, with the championship contest set to start at 5 p.m. PT on Saturday.
College of the Ozarks heads to Hastings, Neb., as the No. 13 seed in the Cramer Quadrant with an overall record of 20-10 as they are making their 29
th appearance in the national field. They will take on No. 4 seed Hastings, who earned an at-large berth out of the GPAC with an overall mark of 23-7. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
The second semifinal will see No. 5 seed LSU-Shreveport, who claimed the Red River regular season and tournament championships with an overall mark of 27-3. They will face No. 12 Huntington, who claimed an at-large berth out of the Crossroads with an overall mark of 17-12. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., with the championship slated for 5 p.m. on Saturday.
