Oklahoma City – Hanna Rubis of Texas Wesleyan, Brynlee Birney of Science & Arts, and Mia Sanchez of Panhandle State have earned Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week honors as released by the conference office Monday morning.
Rubis was named the league’s Attacker of the Week, with Birney earning Defender of the Week honors while Sanchez garnered the Setter of the Week Award.
Rubis led the Rams to three conference victories last week as she had 38 kills for an average of 3.45 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .392 on 74 total attacks over the three-match span. Rubis had season highs in Kills (17), assists (3), and digs (12 in a 3-1 win over RV Nelson. Rubis added 22 digs and 15 total blocks to her stat lane last week.

Birney helped the Drovers to a 1-1 record last week with 36 digs for an average of 6.00 digs per set while adding 26 receptions with a perfect 1.000 reception percentage. Birney also added four service aces in 29 services last week with three of those coming in a 3-0 sweep of Southwestern Christian.

Sanchez picked up her second weekly award as she paced the Aggies to a perfect 3-0 week with 119 assists for an average of 9.92 assists per set and added 32 digs for a 2.67 dig per set average. Sanchez also was credited with five total blocks and eight kills for the week.
