Oklahoma City – Janiyah Tucker of Langston and Cania Mitchell of Wayland Baptist have earned this week’s Digital Scoreboard Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Tucker paced the Lions to a pair of conference wins last week by averaging 22 points per game while shooting 55.2 percent from the field. Tucker posted 29 points in a 76-52 win over John Brown while adding six rebounds and four assists in the victory. Tucker had a total of 10 rebounds, four assists, and six steals during the span.

Mitchell was a key player for the Flying Queens in their two conference wins as she grabbed 11 defensive rebounds, with five steals, and a block during the week. Mitchell had eight defensive rebounds and three steals in a 60-54 win over Southwestern Christian, while adding three defensive caroms, two steals, and a block in a win over Oklahoma City. Mitchell also finished the week by averaging 17 points a game.
