Oklahoma City – Rico Yarbrough and Jamari Lawrence of Wayland Baptist have earned this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Men’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Yarbrough led the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 26.5 points per game on 60-percent shooting from the field. Yarbrough posted a double-double in an 88-85 win over Southwestern Christian with 29 points and 11 rebounds, and then added 24 points in a victory over Oklahoma City. Yarbrough added a pair of assists and three blocks on the stat line for the week.

Lawrence was a key to the Pioneers’ two conference victories last week as he grabbed eight defensive boards, with 10 steals, and a block in the wins. Lawrence had four defensive caroms in each game while adding six steals in a win over Oklahoma City. Lawrence also averaged 19 points in the Wayland Baptist victories.
