Oklahoma City – Makena Junkin of Texas Wesleyan has been named the NAIA National Women’s Golfer of the Week for her efforts this past week. A national panel of Institutional and conference sports information directors votes on this award.
Junkin took part in the Kona Ice Keiser Cup held at the Okeeheelee Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., and claimed her third title of the season by shooting rounds of 77-74-71 for a six-over-par score of 222. Junkin aided the Rams to the second spot in the team chase as they were behind the eventual team winners, Keiser. The victory was also Junkin’s eighth in her career at Texas Wesleyan, which ties her for first place in program history.
This is the second time this school year that Junkin has won the weekly award. She garnered the honor in the fall on Sept. 17, 2025.
