Science & Arts and Oklahoma City Remain Undefeated After the First Day of the 2026 SAC Softball Tournament Presented by Netting Pros/STADIONIC

Oklahoma City – The top two seeds of the 2026 Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, represented by Netting Pros/STADIONIC, remained undefeated, while two lower seeds are still in contention for the tournament title after the first day of the championship.
 
The tournament's first day was held at Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha, Okla., and Ann Lacy Stadium in Oklahoma City.
 
No. 1 Science & Arts 8, No. 8 Nelson 0 (5 Innings)
 
In the first game of the day at Bill Smith Ballpark, three Drover pitchers combined for a no-hitter while Leighanne Eaton drove in four runs as Science & Arts upended Nelson 8-0 in a five-inning affair.
 
Eaton opened the scoring in the home half of the first inning with a two-run blast to center field to give the Drovers an early 2-0 lead. Science & Arts erupted for six runs in the third inning as Lexie Lovelace had a two-run single and Eaton wrapped up the scoring with a two-run single to right to give Science & Arts an 8-0 advantage.
 
Jayden Anderson earned the win as she joined Gabby Toquothy and Keylee Beckwith in throwing the combined no-hitter as they struck out five Lion batters to advance in the winner’s bracket.
 
No. 4 Mid-America Christian 4, No. 5 Southwestern Christian 2
 
The second opening round game in Chickasha saw the Evangels rally from a 2-0 deficit with four runs in the sixth frame to earn a 4-2 victory over the Eagles to move on in the top side of the bracket.
 
Southwestern Christian scored a run in the top of the fifth on a Kylee Coy single through the left side, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead, and then Jessie Moralez added another run in the sixth with a single up the middle, staking Southwestern Christian to a 2-0 advantage. The Evangels rallied in the home half of the sixth as Kayten Herman drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 2-1, and Mia Macias tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single. Madison Schroeder gave Mid-America Christian their first lead of the day as she drew another bases-loaded walk, and Jorjanna King hit a sacrifice fly to give the Evangels a 4-2 edge. 
 
Kylie Flores led the Evangels’ attack with a pair of hits and a run scored, while Emmerson Dickinson earned the victory in the circle for MACU. Danielle Burleson had two hits in the contest to pace the Eagles in the loss.
 
No. 5 Southwestern Christian 6, No. 8 Nelson 5 (8 innings)
 
The Eagles rallied with a run in the seventh inning and a game-winning RBI single from Kylee Coy with bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth to keep their championship hopes alive as Southwestern Christian defeated Nelson 6-5 in the first elimination game of the tournament.
 
The game went back and forth throughout the contest as Nelson scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh with a run-scoring single by Trista Ford and a sacrifice fly by Cadence Hopgood to take a 5-4 lead before Sabrina Gilbert lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Kamry Snapp to force the extra frame tied at 5-5. Coy gave the Eagles the victory with a bases-loaded single to left in the home half of the eighth to give Southwestern Christian the win.
 
Coy led the way for the Eagles with three hits in the contest and two runs batted in, while Jessie Moralez had two hits and two runs batted in the victory. Lainey King earned the win in relief as she tossed four innings and surrendered three hits. Juli King and Layla Oliver paced the Lions with two hits and two runs batted in as Nelson ended the season with an overall record of 18-34.
 
No.1 Science & Arts 8, No. 4 Mid-America Christian 0 (6 innings)
 
Science & Arts scattered 12 hits, with four of those being for extra bases, and received an outstanding outing from Aubree Ferguson to remain undefeated after the opening day of the tournament, with an 8-0 victory over Mid-America Christian.
 
The Drovers scored three runs in the first innings and another three runs in the third frame to take a 6-0 lead, and added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win. Sisters Lilyana and Vanessa Portillo accounted for three hits and four runs batted in as Lilyana had a double and a home run to drive in three runs to highlight the offensive attack for the Drovers.
 
Ferguson went the distance for Science & Arts as she allowed two hits with six strikeouts to earn the victory. Dakota Watson and Kylie Flores each had hits for the Evangels as they will move to the elimination part of the bracket on Friday.
 
No. 2 Oklahoma City 9, No. 7 Langston 1 (6 innings)
In the opener at Ann Lacy Stadium, three players drove in two runs while Brynlee Alsip allowed only two hits as the host Stars claimed a 9-1 victory over Langston to advance in the championship.
 
Oklahoma City broke the game open in the second inning as they plated four runs while adding to the advantage with two runs in the third and three runs in the bottom of the sixth to gain the victory. Tara Hoehner provided the final margin of victory with a two-run blast to left field to propel the Stars to the next round.
 
Hoehner, Gabby Moreno, and Jessica Phares all drove in two runs while Kaiden Spidell chipped in with three hits to pace the Stars’ offence, while Alsip went five frames with five strikeouts to earn the win in the circle. Tandy Garrett led the Lions with a home run, while Ryan Cornist added the other Langston hit in the loss.
 
No. 3 Texas Wesleyan 3, No. 6 Wayland Baptist 1
 
Texas Wesleyan scored all of the runs in the first three innings while Kylie Barnes went the distance in the circle to push the Rams to a 3-1 opening round win over Wayland Baptist to advance in the championship.
 
Barnes aided her own cause by driving in a run in the first frame to put the Rams out in front 1-0. Kadynce Crenshaw added to the lead with a run-scoring single in the second, and EB Zimmerman added an RBI in the third to give Texas Wesleyan a 3-0 advantage. Wayland Baptist rallied in the top of the seventh as Mikenzi Carlo drove in a run with bases loaded to cut the deficit to 3-1, but that is as close as they would get.
 
Barnes paced the Rams with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored at the plate and earned the victory in the circle by allowing five hits with four strikeouts. Yaneli Jaramillo led the Pioneers with two hits in the contest.
 
No. 7 Langston 5, No. 6 Wayland Baptist 2
In the second elimination game of the day, Langston scattered 10 hits and scored all of their runs in the middle frames of the contest to advance to the second day of the championship with a 5-1 victory over Wayland Baptist. 
 
The Pioneers broke out to an early lead in the bottom of the first as Berkley Bradley had an RBI single, and Kynleigh Kirby drove in a run to give Wayland Baptist an early 2-0 lead. The Lions responded in the top of the second as Ari Bell lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score a run and cut the deficit to 2-1. Asharah Thibodeaux evened the contest in the third with an RBI single, while the Lions plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. Thibodeaux added an insurance run in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly to give Langston a 5-2 advantage.
 
Four Lions had two hits in the contest, while Thibodeaux had two runs batted in to pace the Langston attack, while Lilly Ritter earned the win in the circle. Mikayla Carrillo led the Pioneers’ efforts with two hits as they completed the season with an overall record of 27-23.
 
No. 2 Oklahoma City 16, No. 3 Texas Wesleyan 4 (5 innings)
 
Oklahoma City’s offence exploded for 18 hits as they scored in the first four innings of the contest to advance in the winner’s bracket with a 16-4 victory over Texas Wesleyan to complete opening day action in Oklahoma City.
 
The Stars scored four runs in the opening innings and then added three runs in the second, two runs in the third, and seven runs in the fourth to secure the win. Tara Hoehner and Carlee Mollett each hit home runs, while Hoehner and Analise Rayburn each doubled in the contest for Oklahoma City.
 
Hoehner ended the day with three hits and five run batted in, while Gabby Moreno also chipped in with three hits and an RBI in the victory, with Brynlee Alsip claiming the victory in the circle by allowing four hits and having a pair of strikeouts. Ally Hinojosa had a two-run homer, and Kylie Barnes had a pair of doubles with a pair of RBIs as the Rams fell to the elimination bracket.
 
Play at both Bill Smith Ballpark and Ann Lacy Stadium begins on Friday, May 1, at 1 p.m.
