Oklahoma City Claims the 2026 SAC/AMC Men's Wrestling Qualifying Tournament Championship

Fort Worth – Oklahoma City grabbed nine individual championships en route to claiming the 2026 Sooner Athletic Conference/ American Midwest Conference team title this past Saturday at the Sid Richardson Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
 
The Stars won the team title with 192.5 points while defending champions Wayland Baptist earned the second spot with 147.5 points, with Texas Wesleyan earning third place with 135.5 points. Williams Baptist came in fourth with 79.5 points, while Central Baptist earned fifth place with 41 points, and Central Christian placed sixth with 25 points.
 
The SAC/AMC grouping will have 15 total allocations into the NAIA National Championship that will be held on March 5-7 at the Heartland Credit Union Arena in Wichita, Kan. The allocations include two wrestlers in the 125, 149, 157, 165, and 184 lb. weight classes, while receiving one bid in the remaining classes.
 
Oklahoma City was paced by the conference Wrestler of the Year, John Wiley, as he won the 157 lb. weight class, while teammate Kaden Fetterolf earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the meet by winning the 149 lb. weight class.
 
Oklahoma City’s Tate Picklo was named the conference Newcomer of the Year after he won the 174 lb. weight class, while teammate Cash Donnell grabbed the Freshman of the Year award following his victory in the 125 lb. weight class.
 
Jesse Lewis of Wayland Baptist had two falls on the day in the 125 lb. weight class to earn the most pins in the tournament.
 
Oklahoma City Head Coach Justin Ensign was named the league’s Coach of the Year after leading the Stars to the tournament title.

The top two wrestlers in each weight class also earned All-Conference honors for their achievements this season and during the championship meet.
