Pena and Gray Earn SAC Digital Scoreboards Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Awards

Oklahoma City – Erika Pena of Oklahoma City and Mia Gray of Wayland Baptist have been named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboard Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for their efforts this past week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
 
Pena took part in the Pitt State Invitational and set a pair of NAIA standards. Pena anchored the Star’s Distance Medley Relay team to a second-place finish in a time of 12:08.26, which is an “A” standard mark and the fastest time in the NAIA. Pena then placed fifth in the mile run with a “B” standard mark of 5:00.95, which is seventh in the country this winter.
 
Other Nominees - Shania Chavez, Panhandle State, Robyn Puente, Nelson, and Chloe Threatt, Langston.
 
Gray took part in the University of New Mexico Team Open and placed ninth in the Shot Put. Gray had a toss of 12.69m to finish ninth out of 30 throwers in a meet that featured competitors from NCAA Division I and II. Gray still has the 21st-longest throw in the nation following this meet.
