Ortiz and Johnson Collect SAC Netting Pros/STADIONIC Baseball Player of the Week Awards

Oklahoma City – Drew Ortiz of Nelson and Kason Johnson of Science & Arts have been named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Netting Pros/STADIONIC Baseball Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
 
Ortiz helped the Lions to a 3-1 record last week with a 2-1 conference mark by going 8-of-16 at the plate for a .500 batting average. Four of Ortiz’s hits were for extra bases, including three home runs. Ortiz drove in seven runs while scoring seven times himself and had a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage over the span. Ortiz also had 12 putouts in 12 total chances in the field.

Johnson tossed a complete-game three-hitter in a Drovers 3-0 victory over Central Christian this past weekend. Johnson had nine strikeouts while surrendering no walks during the outing. Johnson finished his day with a .43 WHIP and an 11.57 strikeout per seven innings average.
