Silvis, Ill. – The Oklahoma City men’s golf team grabbed the lead during the second round of the 2026 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship and emerged with their 12
th national title in program history on Friday afternoon. The tournament was held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
The Stars needed to hold off a late surge by Friends to earn the Red Banner as they finished two strokes ahead of the Falcons with rounds of 290-278-292-293 for a 33-over-par score of 1,153. Friends finished with a score of 1,155, while Hastings grabbed the third spot 12 strokes behind the Stars, with a score of 1,165.
Science & Arts completed their first-ever national tournament in seventh place with a score of 1,177, while Wayland Baptist completed the tournament tied for 11
th with a score of 1,182.
Oklahoma City’s Christian Yanovitch claimed medalist honors after recording four birdies, with two of those coming over the last five holes to finish as the only player in the tournament to finish even par over the four days. Yanovitch had rounds of 71-69-70-70 for a final score of 280. His teammate, Carter Ray, was in the mix for medalist honors as well, but ended the tournament tied for fifth with rounds of 68-70-72-75 for a five-over-par score of 285 as he earned All-Tournament honors with Yanovitch. Jaeden Ellis of Science & Arts also joined the All-Tournament team by finishing in a tie for 15
th with rounds of 68-73-73-73 for a nine-over-par score of 289.
