Oklahoma City -- The Sooner Athletic Conference is proud to announce that John Brown University's Nicholas Robinson has been awarded the 2025-26 SAC Sports Information Director of the Year honor, as voted on by his peers within the conference.
This is the third time that Robinson has been awarded this honor (2019, 24), and he is the longest-serving SID in the conference.
Winners of each conference SID of the Year are sent to the NAIA Awards Committee for consideration for the national SID of the Year honor, which will be announced in September on NAIA National Awards Day.
The Sooner Athletic Conference SID of the Year recognizes an outstanding Sports Information Director based on accomplishments during the previous year. This includes their service not only to the institution's student-athletes but to the conference sports information directors, the SAC, and the NAIA.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Nick," stated SAC Assistant Commissioner Jim Powers. "Nick continues to help raise the bar in the college sports communications industry by the way that he promotes John Brown, their student-athletes, and others in the SAC. He is always ready and willing to help out with both SAC and NAIA championships when needed, ensuring that the student-athletes have the best coverage possible. Nick is a constant professional, and I am happy that he is a part of our communications group."
Robinson just completed his 14th year at John Brown, and his knowledge of collegiate communication is broad. John Brown University leans on Robinson across many levels, from developing graphics and overseeing the school's streaming platform to writing and statistical recording.
The native Michigander has also taken the lead on the sports information side, as he assisted with hosting both the 2025 SAC Cross Country Championships and five out of a possible six Men's and Women's Soccer Championship matches.
"We are proud to have Nick as our Assistant Athletic Director for Communications," said John Brown, Director of Athletics Robyn Daugherty. "His attention to detail and creativity are two skill sets that are very important in this role. He goes through game day stats thoroughly and makes sure all the i's are dotted, and t's are crossed before submitting. He loves our Golden Eagle student-athletes and enjoys writing about them and promoting them.”
"He has worked tirelessly over the last 14 years to compile record books, create website pages, and lead the installation of our instant replay system," she said. "He also ensures our gameday systems and procedures in BGA and Alumni Field are working well, while always thinking ahead to keep our athletic communications one step ahead. There are so many other things that make him so valuable to our athletic department. Nick is very deserving of this award, and we are thankful that his peers see his hard work and dedication to JBU, but also to the SAC."
