Oklahoma City- Luke Giron of OUAZ, Brennen Davis of Wayland Baptist, and Freddy Joya of Texas Wesleyan are this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
 
Giron earned the league’s Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Davis was named Defensive Player of the Week, with Joya garnering the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
 
Giron helped the Spirit to a 48-0 victory over Arkansas Baptist by going 13-of-22 in the air for 263 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Giron averaged 12.0 yards per attempt and had a touchdown connection for 85 yards, with a passing efficiency mark of 204.5. Giron also added six yards on the ground on five carries to help OUAZ claim its seventh win of the year.
 
Other Nominees - Khalon Davis, Wayland Baptist and Tony Roberson, Texas Wesleyan.
 
Davis aided the Pioneers to a 45-27 win over Nelson by having 10 tackles, with four of those being solo stops. Davis also had a tackle for a loss of two yards and added an interception that he returned 15 yards for a touchdown in the victory.

Joya claimed his second weekly award by scoring 19 points in a 46-12 victory over Panhandle State this past weekend. Joya was a perfect 4-of-4 in extra points and 5-for-5 in field goals with makes from 20, 38, 16, 39, and 34 yards in the win that kept the Rams undefeated in conference play.
