Oklahoma City – For the second time this season, Freddy Joya of Texas Wesleyan has earned NAIA National Football Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the national office on Monday afternoon. The award is voted on by a panel of institutional and conference sports information directors from around the country.
Joya won his first national honor back on Oct. 13, after having a record-setting day in a win over Louisiana Christian.
Joya claimed his second weekly award by scoring 19 points in a 46-12 victory over Panhandle State this past weekend. Joya was a perfect 4-of-4 in extra points and 5-for-5 in field goals with makes from 20, 38, 16, 39, and 34 yards in the win that kept the Rams undefeated in conference play. This is the second time this season that Joya has accounted for 19 points in a game.
