Oklahoma City – Marko Malekinusic of John Brown and Jesse Iweze of Nelson have earned this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for their efforts over the past week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Malekinusic was a key player for the Golden Eagles in a 78-76 victory over College of the Ozarks by scoring 21 points on 70 percent shooting from the field. He was also 5-of-8 from beyond the arc in the win. Malekinusic also grabbed a pair of rebounds, handed out three assists, and had a steal in the conference win.
Other Nominees - Orlando Thomas, Langston, Ozavian Buford, Nelson, and Jonas Carlisle, Oklahoma City.
Iweze claimed his third straight defensive weekly honor by helping the Lions to an 88-83 victory over Texas Wesleyan by grabbing seven defensive rebounds in the contest. Iweze also had a steal and six blocks in the contest, while scoring 10 points in 36 minutes played.
Other Nominees - Omar Henry, Langston, Jonas Carlisle, Oklahoma City, and Khalil Turner, Texas Wesleyan.
