Dean and Jones Earn SAC Digital Scoreboards Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City – Demarion Dean of Oklahoma City and CarVelle Jones of Langston have been named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboard Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts this past week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
 
Dean took part in the Arkansas Invite this past weekend and claimed seventh place in a loaded 600-meter run field. His time of 1:18.98 set an NAIA “A” Standard and is now the fastest time in the NAIA this winter. Dean placed behind six NCAA Division I runners in the event.
 
Other Nominees - Payton Brack, John Brown, Marques Cameron, Langston, Lucky Maila, Mid-America Christian, Andries Meyer, Science & Arts, and Ryder Robison, Wayland Baptist. 
 
Jones participated in the Washburn Rust Buster Meet and had an outstanding showing in the Triple Jump and the Long Jump. Jones placed fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 14.05m against 20 other athletes. Jones then had a leap of 5.76m in the Long Jump to place 31st in the event against NCAA Division II, NAIA, and Junior College competitors.
