Maila and Norwich Claim SAC Digital Scoreboards Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City – Lucky Maila of Mid-America Christian and Hayden Norwich of Texas Wesleyan have been named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboard Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts this past week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Maila competed in the NCCAA Indoor Championships and led the Evangels’ 4x800-meter relay team to the top of the podium. Maila ran the anchor leg for the team as they won the event with a time of 8:07.77. This is the first-ever event victory at the NCCAA Championships. Maila also placed fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:19.7 and sixth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:48.92.

Other Nominees - Hendrick Ramirez, Oklahoma City, Case Drum, Wayland Baptist, Tyrece Grant, Texas Wesleyan, Joshua Samaron, Panhandle State, Chase Schermer, John Brown, and Mitchell Williams, Langston.

Norwich participated in the Jarvis Scott Invite and earned an 11th-place finish in the Shot Put against a field of NCAA Division I competitors. His throw of 16.54m was good enough for an NAIA “B” Standard toss as he still holds the seventh-best throw in the nation this season.
